The PIEPS iProbe BT 260 is an advanced electronic avalanche probe designed to significantly speed up search and rescue operations in avalanche situations. It features acoustic and optical hit indicators that alert the user when the probe tip nears a transmitting avalanche beacon, providing clear signals to start digging. The probe is Bluetooth-enabled for wireless updates and device management through the PIEPS app, ensuring it stays current with the latest software.
Measuring 260 cm in length when fully extended, the probe is made of lightweight, durable materials with a tube diameter of 12.5 mm for easy handling. It includes a centimeter scale to measure burial depth and snow profiles, an elastic closure buckle to keep the probe compacted, and an ergonomic grip coated with lightweight rubber for secure handling. The iProbe also integrates a quick-release fastener for efficient locking of the probe segments.
This probe supports multiple burial scenarios by temporarily suppressing other PIEPS transmitters to reduce confusion and enhance search efficiency. With a battery life of over 100 hours and a working temperature range from -20°C to +45°C, the iProbe BT 260 is a reliable tool for alpine rescue teams and individuals engaged in backcountry winter activities.
