The 2.5 "SATA Hard Drive Docking Station, model SDOCK2U33, allows you to simultaneously connect and swap hard drives from a desktop or laptop computer through a single USB port.

Enhanced with the UASP protocol (SCSI with USB connection), this docking station allows you to take full advantage of hard disk technologies that operate at higher speeds, such as SATA III (6 Gbps), solid state drives (SSD), as well as hybrids, with up to 70% faster performance than conventional USB 3.0 technology when paired with a UASP-equipped host controller. The hard drive dock includes separate shutdown buttons for each drive, allowing each drive to be used separately. This allows the flexibility to hot-swap one drive while transferring data to another, saving time.

Improved performance with UASP

Support for UASP on Windows 8, Mac OSX (10.8 or higher) and Linux. In tests, UASP performed with 70% faster read speed and 40% faster write speed, in contrast to the peak performance of conventional USB 3.0.

At the same full performance capabilities, UASP tests also show an 80% reduction in required processor resources.

Test results were obtained using an Intel® Ivy Bridge system, a StarTech.com box with available UASP, as well as a SATA III Solid State Drive (SSD).
