Startech SDOCK2U33RE SATA HDD/SSD Duplicator Black

The SDOCK2U33RE Dual 2.5"/3.5" SATA HDD/SSD Docking Station lets you duplicate/clone an existing hard drive without a host computer system, or plug and swap, simultaneously, hard drives from a desktop or laptop, through a single eSATA or USB port.

The SDOCK2U33RE model offers convenient dual-duty performance. As a duplicator, it allows you to create an exact sector-by-sector copy of one hard drive to another, including partitions and boot sector information, ensuring integrity and consistency for sensitive operations such as data recovery. As an external hard drive dock, the SDOCK2U33RE allows drives to be individually connected via eSATA or USB, with each drive slot individually supporting 2.5" or 3.5" high-capacity hard drives ( HDD) or Solid State Drives (SSD), which have been tested up to 4TB.

fast performance

Support for SATA III (6 Gbps) helps maximize efficiency with mirroring speeds of up to 22 GB per minute, as well as eSATA connection speeds of up to 6 Gbps. The docking station can also be connected via USB 3.0 with UASP, for transfer speeds of up to 5 Gbps (70% faster than conventional USB 3.0). For more details, see the UASP test results below.

Simple use and operation

Buttons for operation/use and plug-and-play installation are features of the duplicators simple design for hassle-free use. The SDOCK2U33RE device enables quick connection of hard drives or initiation of hard drive mirroring with the push of a button. In addition, the built-in LED progress bar saves time by allowing easy monitoring of the entire duplication process, so you know exactly when to start the next operation.

To enable compatibility with other drive types in fast duplication and erase applications, the SDOCK2U33RE allows the use of multiple adapter types. The following StarTech.com adapters have been specifically tested to ensure compatibility with this drive duplicator:

Improved performance with UASP

Support for UASP on Windows 8, Mac OSX (10.8 or higher), and Linux. In tests, UASP performed with 70% faster read speed and 40% faster write speed, in contrast to the maximum performance of conventional USB 3.0.

At the same full throughput capacity, UASP tests also show an 80% reduction in required processor resources.

Test results were obtained using an Intel® Ivy Bridge system, a StarTech.com box with UASP available, as well as a SATA III Solid State Drive (SSD).
