The Edelrid Boa 9.8 mm 50 m with liner (rope bag liner) is a lightweight, multi-purpose dynamic sport climbing rope, designed for intensive use on rock and climbing walls, delivered with a protective bag for transport and organisation. It is a pack aimed at climbers looking for a reliable first rope or a strong daily use rope for one-pitch and top-rope routes.

Rope type and construction

This is a dynamic single rope of 9.8 mm diameter and 50 m in length, suitable for most single-pitch sport routes in classic schools and for use in climbing walls. The construction uses a polyamide jacket and core with Thermo Shield technology, which provides a very soft feel and keeps the handling stable in use.

The Boa Gym 9.8 mm version related to this family offers data typical of the range: shock strength around 8.8 kN, dynamic elongation of 32% and about 7 UIAA falls, which puts the model in a very balanced range between safety and belay comfort for sport climbing and top-rope.

Weight, durability and ideal use

The weight is around 70-72 g/m depending on variant, which gives a rope robust enough for frequent top-rope but still comfortable to handle and haul on one pitch routes. The liner is designed to withstand abrasion and repeated chafing from carabiners and plates well, making it a very suitable choice as a "battle" rope for frequent training.

Due to its length of 50 m, it is especially practical in climbing walls and schools where the routes do not exceed 20-22 m in real height, reducing weight and volume compared to a 60-70 m rope. It does not have a specific dry treatment, so its ideal field is dry sport rock and indoor use, rather than alpine or ice climbing.

Sheath / rope bag included

The pack includes a liner-type rope bag, which serves as a carrying bag and as a tarpaulin to keep the rope clean and tidy at the foot of the route or wall. This bag also facilitates initial unwinding and subsequent storage, reducing knots and tangles and prolonging the life of the rope by protecting it from dust and dirt.
