The Synology RX418 is a 4-bay expansion unit designed to seamlessly scale the storage capacity of compatible Synology DiskStation NAS models. With support for up to four 3.5-inch SATA HDDs or SSDs, it allows you to add up to 108 TB of raw storage (using 18 TB drives). The unit connects via eSATA and supports daisy-chaining up to two additional RX418 units, enabling flexible capacity expansion as your data grows.

Built for reliability, the RX418 features hot-swappable drive bays, allowing you to replace drives without powering down the system. LED indicators provide clear status for each drive and system alerts. The compact design fits standard 19-inch racks with optional rail kit, making it ideal for small to medium businesses needing cost-effective storage scaling.
