The PoE switch is an essential active device in any network infrastructure, utilizing power transmission over structured cabling. This device is suitable for all types of installations: residential, commercial, low-voltage, monitoring, IP, VoIP, and cable TV networks, and is particularly useful in alarm, fire, and access control systems. In addition to its primary function of managing Ethernet frame traffic between ports, the switch also provides power to each device according to the PoE 802.3af and at standards. This allows for up to 60 watts of total power to be delivered to the devices, while simultaneously transmitting data to them.
This saves resources, space, and the time it would take to install separate electrical and network systems. This is especially important if the network is dispersed and its end devices don't have access to a power source, even more so if they are mounted outdoors.
A NO-COMPROMISING SOLUTION - ACTUAL POE BUDGET: 60 IN.
The switch is equipped with a total of 6 ports, including 4 PoE+ ports and 2 uplink ports. A well-thought-out design and attention to component quality provide the user with up to 60W of total real power for end devices, allowing for simultaneous connection of multiple devices.

The two remaining ports (Uplink) are dedicated to exchanging data traffic between the four PoE+ ports and external devices. This is especially useful for surveillance/control systems, as it allows the user to simultaneously extract camera recordings to the DVR and share them later, for example, on the local network or the internet.
SMART POE PORT DISCONNECT FUNCTION
On most switches with a limited number of ports, it's unclear how they'll behave when one of the connected devices exceeds the available PoE budget. Will the switch shut down a random port? Or the one that exceeds the budget? Or the last one connected? If so, which will be the first to shut down after a power outage, and which will be the last one connected? The situation becomes even more complicated if more than one port exceeds the available power.
Lanberg, in the RS series switches , has introduced an innovative solution that, thanks to the simplicity of the operating principle, eliminates any doubt about the mechanics of the ports.
When the PoE budget is exceeded (for example, by a device connected to port 1), the switch will begin disconnecting PoE ports, starting with the highest number, until the total load no longer exceeds the available budget, while maintaining the functionality of the remaining ports. It's important to note that the disconnected ports will, in effect, be alternately powered off and on.
This feature is primarily intended for demanding applications that emphasize security and operational continuity, where some devices must function continuously regardless of the situation. In such cases, Lanberg switches allow the user to protect sensitive devices by connecting them to lower-level ports.
EXTEND MODE UP TO 250 METERS
Standard switches, according to the standard, allow devices to operate up to 100 meters over a single cable run. However, sometimes, due to the size of the backbone network and the complexity of the environment, a customized solution that goes beyond the standard is required during cabling and networking development. This is a fairly common problem in monitoring solutions, most often due to the excessive distance between the distribution device and the end device.
Lanberg switches have a feature that allows data transmission (max. 10 Mbps) and PoE+ power delivery up to 250 m over a single cable run. Simply set the button on the housing to the "PoE+ Extend 250 m" position to enable operation at longer distances.
The solution has been introduced for surveillance or access control and IP systems, especially if the end devices are located outdoors without the possibility of installing additional network distribution points.
4 kV surge protection.
The switch itself, as well as the devices connected to it, are repeatedly exposed to various hazards, such as electrical discharges that can flow through the power and network cables.
With the safety of both the devices and their users in mind, Lanberg has equipped the switch with an integrated surge protection circuit, which guarantees protection of up to 4 kV for all ports, effectively reducing damage from power surges.
Under standard conditions, the network will continue to operate without interruption, the switch will continue to function without interruption, and the user will gain in security in the operation of the device, as well as in that of the infrastructure.
MOUNTING KIT INCLUDED - EARS FOR 10" AND 19"
The RS series of switches is characterized not only by the quality of manufacture, ease of use and functionality of the device, but also by the complementarity in terms of assembly and the accessories supplied where possible.
Most small switches available on the market are supplied for standalone or standard 19" mounting. Some manufacturers overlook users who want to use their products in small home or SOHO installations. This is especially true when the switches have a reduced number of ports and, therefore, a small form factor. In such cases, they can be mounted not only in the aforementioned 19" cabinets but also in smaller ones, such as 10" cabinets.
Lanberg, as one of the few manufacturers, has introduced a set of accessories for the versatile mounting of its switches. The RSFE-4P-2FE-60 comes with independent mounting ears for 10" and 19" enclosures, as well as a set of mounting screws. This allows for a wider range of applications and greater installation flexibility for the RS series switches.
